Product safety information (GPSR)
Every product you offer online to consumers in the EU must show certain safety information. EU Shop Kit helps you collect it once and show it on each product page. This is a Pro feature.
What the law requires
Since 13 December 2024, Art. 19 of the General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988) requires every online offer to show clearly:
- The manufacturer: name, registered trade name or trade mark, postal address and an electronic address, such as an email address or website.
- A responsible person in the EU, if the manufacturer isn’t established in the EU: name, postal address and electronic address. This is often the importer or an authorised representative.
- Product identification: a picture of the product, its type and any other identifier, such as a model, batch or serial number, or a GTIN/EAN.
- Warnings and safety information that come with the product, in a language consumers easily understand, as decided by each country where you sell.
If you make the products yourself or sell them under your own brand, you’re usually the manufacturer.
Set it up
1. Switch it on
Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Settings → Product safety (GPSR), turn on Show product safety information on product pages and click Save. It’s switched on automatically when you upgrade from Free.
Show as a collapsible section is on by default: the information sits in a section shoppers can open. Turn it off to show the information expanded.
2. Create a manufacturer profile
A profile holds the manufacturer’s details and, when needed, the EU responsible person’s. Most shops need one profile per brand.
- Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Products and click Manufacturer profiles.
- Click Add profile.
- Enter a profile name and the manufacturer’s company name, trade name or brand (optional), street and number, postal code, city and country. Add an email address, a website or both.
- If the manufacturer is outside the EU and EEA, EU Shop Kit asks for a Responsible person in the EU. Click Add responsible person and enter their details.
- Click Save.
Pro includes 1 profile and Business up to 25. In the list of profiles, Missing — required means a manufacturer outside the EU and EEA has no responsible person yet.
If you delete a profile, the products that used it fall back to the default profile. If you delete the default profile itself, choose a new default.
3. Choose a default profile
In Settings → Product safety (GPSR), choose a Default manufacturer profile. Every product without its own profile uses it. If all your products come from one manufacturer, that covers the manufacturer part for your whole shop.
4. Complete each product
Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Products and click a product. Then fill in:
- Manufacturer profile: keep the shop default or choose another profile.
- Product identifiers: type / model, batch / serial number, and GTIN / EAN (8, 12, 13 or 14 digits). Enter at least one.
- Warnings and safety information: the warnings and safety information that come with the product. See Warnings in several languages.
- This product needs no warnings or safety information: tick this only if the product can be used safely without them.
- Documents: links to a manual or safety sheet, each with a title and a web address (https://…).
- Producer’s commercial guarantee of durability (years): only for the GARAN label. See The GARAN durability label.
Click Save. The product picture comes from Wix Stores.
Warnings in several languages
You enter warnings in your default shopper language, which you set in Settings → Languages and markets. Every shopper sees that text, whatever their language.
The law expects warnings in a language consumers understand in each country where you sell. If you sell to countries with other languages, add the translations in the same text box, one language per paragraph. Line breaks are kept on the product page.
EU Shop Kit’s check only confirms that warnings exist. It can’t tell whether they cover every language you need.
Find incomplete products
The Products list shows Complete or Incomplete for each product, with what’s missing. Tick Only incomplete to see just those. The checklist on the overview shows how many products are complete.
| Message | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| No safety information yet | Open the product, fill in its details and click Save. |
| Manufacturer missing | Choose a profile for the product, or set a default profile. |
| Manufacturer email or website missing | Add an email address or website to the profile. |
| EU responsible person missing | The manufacturer is outside the EU and EEA. Add a responsible person to the profile. |
| Identifier or picture missing | Add at least one identifier, and make sure the product has a picture in Wix Stores. |
| Warnings missing | Add warnings or safety information, or tick This product needs no warnings or safety information. |
What shoppers see
Product pages show a Product safety information section with:
- the manufacturer’s name, trade name, address, and email address or website;
- the responsible person in the EU, if there is one;
- the product identifiers;
- the warnings and safety information;
- links to your documents.
The headings appear in the shopper’s language. The details appear as you entered them.
The section appears once a manufacturer profile applies to the product, either its own profile or the default one. It isn’t shown on the Free plan or when the setting is off.
Bulk editing with CSV
On Pro you can export your product safety data. On Business you can also import it, to update many products at once.
- Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Products and click Export CSV. You get
product-safety.csv, with one row per product. - Fill in or change the cells in a spreadsheet app. Don’t change the
product_idcolumn. - Save the file as CSV (UTF-8) and click Import CSV.
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
product_id |
The product’s ID. Required. Don’t change it. |
product_name |
For your reference. Changes are ignored. |
type_or_model |
Type or model. |
batch_or_serial |
Batch or serial number. |
gtin |
GTIN / EAN, with 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits. |
other_identifier |
Any other identifier. |
warnings |
Warnings, in your default shopper language. |
safety_information |
Safety information, in your default shopper language. |
durability_guarantee_years |
Years of the producer’s durability guarantee, for the GARAN label. |
Files can have up to 5 MB and 5,000 rows. After the import, EU Shop Kit shows how many products were updated and lists any rows with errors by row number. Rows with errors are skipped; the others are saved. Rows without any values change nothing and aren’t counted.
Tips:
- Empty cells keep what is saved. Filled cells add or replace a value; empty cells and missing columns leave the saved value unchanged. To remove a value, open the product in the editor.
- Start from a fresh export so you always work with the current values.
- Format the
gtincolumn as text in your spreadsheet app, so long numbers aren’t changed. - An apostrophe at the start of a cell is a safety mark. Text that starts with =, +, - or @ is exported with an apostrophe in front, so spreadsheet apps don’t run it as a formula. Leave it in place; the import removes it.
