The EU legal-guarantee notice
Goods sold to consumers in the EU come with a legal guarantee of conformity: the seller is responsible for defects that show up within at least two years. Since 27 September 2026, shops that sell goods must remind shoppers of this guarantee with an official EU notice. EU Shop Kit shows it on every plan.
What the law requires
- A reminder of the legal guarantee. Shops must remind shoppers of the legal guarantee and its minimum duration of two years, in a prominent manner, using the EU’s harmonised notice (Art. 6(1)(l) and Art. 22a of the Consumer Rights Directive, added by Directive (EU) 2024/825).
- Official design and wording. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 sets the design and content of the notice in every official EU language. The notice must be used as it is, without changes.
- Some countries give more. The legal guarantee is longer in some countries. The notice itself mentions this.
The notice concerns goods, so you need it if you sell physical products.
How EU Shop Kit shows it
EU Shop Kit adds a Your legal guarantee rights link with a small EU flag. Clicking it opens the full official notice in the shopper’s language, with its wording exactly as published in the Official Journal of the EU, and a link to the EU’s Your Europe page on guarantees. All 24 official EU languages are included.
You choose where the link appears:
| Option | Where shoppers see it |
|---|---|
| Both (default) | On product pages and on every page |
| On product pages | In the EU Shop Kit block on your product pages |
| On every page (next to the withdrawal button) | As a small floating link just above the withdrawal button, in the same corner |
Settings
- Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Settings → EU legal-guarantee notice.
- Make sure Show the official EU notice is on.
- Under Where, choose an option.
- Click Save.
If you switch the notice off, the checklist on the overview shows it as missing.
Add it to your order confirmation emails
The European Commission’s practical guidelines say the notice should also be included in the order confirmation email. EU Shop Kit doesn’t change your Wix emails, but it gives you a link to add:
- Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Settings → EU legal-guarantee notice.
- Copy the link shown under the tip. It leads to the EU’s official page on the legal guarantee, in your default shopper language.
- Add it to your order confirmation email in your Wix email settings, for example as “Your legal guarantee rights: [link]”.
The GARAN durability label (Pro)
Besides the notice, the EU created a label for a producer’s commercial guarantee of durability, known as the GARAN label. Use it only when all of these are true:
- the guarantee is given by the producer, not by you as the seller;
- it covers the whole product;
- it costs the shopper nothing extra;
- it lasts more than two years;
- the producer has made this information available to you.
Don’t use it for your own seller guarantee, for extended warranties you sell, or for guarantees that cover only some parts.
Add the label to a product
- Open Apps → EU Shop Kit → Products and click the product.
- Under Producer’s commercial guarantee of durability (years), enter the number of years, from 3 to 50.
- Click Save.
The product page then shows the official GARAN label, in its compact form, with the number of years. A click opens the full label with the brand (the manufacturer’s trade name, or its name) and the type or model from the product’s safety information, and a link to the EU’s information page on durability guarantees. Fill in the manufacturer and the type or model so that the full label is complete. On Business you can also set the years for many products at once with a CSV import. See Bulk editing with CSV.
The rules also require this information directly before the shopper places the order (Art. 8(2) CRD), and the Commission’s guidelines recommend including it in the confirmation email. EU Shop Kit shows the label on the product page only, so check how you show the guarantee at checkout and in your order emails.
